Auditions will be held on Wednesday, May 21st after school and Thursday, May 22nd during Zero Period.
We have need for ALL instruments in the Jazz Band next year - no section is 'locked' and some chairs have higher demand than others.
We will be auditioning for the following:
Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax
Trumpet
Trombone, Bass Trombone
Rhythm Section (private lessons encouraged)
Step 1: You will find the new audition etudes HERE - Scroll through the PDF to the 3 etudes for your instrument: Swing, Ballad, and Latin. Start practicing!
Step 2: Build up your Improv Chops by getting familiar with the B-flat Blues! We'll be listening to a short solo using this backing track

We strongly recommend listening to a variety of Jazz artists on your instrument to develop a 'sound concept' for your own playing.
Practice with your friends! The etudes are similar enough across instrumentation.
